Washington: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday asserted that Iran has agreed it will not pursue nuclear weapons, describing the development as a significant step in ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two sides.
Speaking to reporters during an official ceremony at the White House, Trump said discussions with Tehran were progressing in a “constructive” direction. He indicated that Iranian representatives were engaging positively, adding that the foundation of any understanding remains firm—Tehran must not acquire nuclear arms.
“It all starts with them not having a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, suggesting that Iran had accepted this condition. “They’ve agreed they will never have a nuclear weapon.”
