New Delhi: Israel has formally invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the country, confirming growing momentum in bilateral ties even as the timing and status of the proposed trip remain uncertain.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi said the invitation has been extended but declined to confirm whether the Indian government has accepted it or when the visit may take place. No official statement has yet been issued by New Delhi.
The confirmation comes amid rising speculation of a possible early-year visit and a renewed push for high-level engagement between the two countries. Diplomatic sources say discussions are ongoing, though no formal schedule has been finalised.
The development follows a recent telephone conversation between PM Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the India–Israel partnership and expressed interest in meeting in person in the near future.
Strategic Partnership in Focus
PM Modi’s landmark 2017 visit to Israel — the first by an Indian prime minister — marked a turning point in bilateral relations. Since then, cooperation has expanded rapidly across defence, security, advanced technology, agriculture, water management, innovation and digital systems.
Defence ties, in particular, have deepened, with Israel emerging as one of India’s top defence partners. Collaboration has also intensified in counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, intelligence sharing and critical technology development.
The possible visit is being seen as part of a broader diplomatic realignment in West Asia, where both nations are seeking to strengthen strategic cooperation while expanding economic and technological linkages.
For now, the invitation remains open, and all eyes are on New Delhi for a formal response that could set the stage for the next chapter in India–Israel relations.
