Ranchi: Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren passed away in Delhi on Friday night, sending a wave of grief across the state. His mortal remains were flown to Ranchi on Saturday morning and taken to the State Assembly, where leaders and officials paid their final respects.
The Jharkhand government has announced a one-day state mourning today. As per the order issued by the Secretariat and Vigilance Department, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings, and no official events will be held.
Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, and Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar were among the leaders who expressed shock and sorrow, calling Soren’s demise an “irreparable loss” to the state’s politics and society. They offered prayers for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family.
Governor Gangwar, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, former ministers Mithilesh Thakur and Badal Patralekh, Congress state president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, MPs Mahua Maji and Joba Manjhi, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, and several dignitaries joined in paying floral tributes at the Assembly.
