Ranchi: Jharkhand has once again proved its mettle in urban sanitation. In the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 rankings announced in New Delhi, Jamshedpur secured 3rd place among cities with a 3–10 lakh population, while Bundu was honoured as the state’s “Promising Clean City.”
The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan, with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, MoS Tokhan Sahu, and Secretary Srinivas Katikithala congratulating Jharkhand’s citizens and urban bodies.
Jamshedpur also earned a prestigious five-star rating and “Water Plus” status for its sanitation standards. Meanwhile, Deoghar, Jugsalai, and Chakulia received one-star tags. Cities like Bundu, Chirkunda, Rajmahal, Sahebganj, and Deoghar were acknowledged under the ODF++ category for sustained cleanliness.
From limited recognition in 2016 to consistent national accolades, Jharkhand’s sanitation journey reflects the combined efforts of the state government, local bodies, and active citizen participation—driven under the leadership of CM Hemant Soren and Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar.
