Massive Public Campaign for BSL Expansion Begins; Seminar on August 3, 10,000 Postcards to PM

 

Bokaro: A major public movement in support of the expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) is set to roll out with a high-powered seminar on August 3, under the banner of the “Mahasignature Abhiyan.” The campaign aims to galvanize public sentiment, amplify local demands, and push for the project’s swift execution.

In a strategic meeting held in Sector 3, led by displaced leader Sunil Kumar Mahato, it was announced that 10,000 postcards will be sent to the Prime Minister and a district-wide drive to collect 2 lakh signatures will be launched to back the twin demands of BSL expansion and super-speciality upgrade of Bokaro General Hospital.

Speaking on the ocassion Kumar Amit said the move is vital to resolve long-pending issues of displaced families, unemployed youth, and local workers. “This isn’t just about industry—this is about transforming Jharkhand’s future,” he asserted.

Nivaran Prasad Mahato and Sandeep Kumar added that the expansion would unlock employment for displaced youths, boost village development, and press the management to deliver long-overdue worker benefits.

Presiding over the meeting, Sunil Kumar Mahato urged BSL to prioritize apprentice union youth in hiring, while safeguarding the interests of displaced residents.

The meeting was anchored by Dhananjay Choubey, with Rakesh Ram delivering the vote of thanks. Prominent social figures including Karan Gorai, Lalbabu Singh, Chandraprakash, Krishna Kalindi, Nitesh Singh, S.N. Singh, and Vimal pledged full support to the campaign.
