Bokaro: The legendary voice of Indian cinema, Kishore Kumar, came alive once again in Bokaro on Monday evening as local artists paid a heartfelt musical tribute to the iconic singer and actor on his birth anniversary.
Organised by Swaragini Musical Group in collaboration with Raman Choudhary and Ragini Sinha Ambasht, the event was held at Sector 12, where music lovers gathered to celebrate Kishore Da’s timeless legacy. The evening began with a floral tribute and garlanding of his portrait by singers Arun Pathak, Jai Kumar, Somesh Mishra, Rajendra Shekhar, Neeraj Singh, Gangadhar Mishra, and others.
“Chalte Chalte Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna…”
A nostalgic atmosphere filled the air as artists rendered some of Kishore Kumar’s most beloved songs.
Arun Pathak set the tone with classics like ‘Chhoti Si Ye Duniya Pehchaane Raaste Hain’, ‘Teri Duniya Se Hoke Majboor Chala…’ and ‘Yaar Wahan Saare Jahaan Hai’.
Somesh Mishra followed with soulful renditions of ‘Aa Ri Aaja…’, ‘Chand O Chanda’, and the haunting ‘O Manjhi Re…’
Jai Kumar captivated the audience with ‘Simit Si Khushboo…’ and ‘Ek Aayee Hai, Ek Jaaye Gi Ritu…’
Raman Choudhary evoked emotions through ‘Hoton Pe Jaan Chali Aayegi’, ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke…’, and ‘Jaane Kya Sochkar…’
Rajendra Shekhar dedicated his set to the legend, performing ‘Amar Shilpi Kishore Kumar’, ‘Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna’, and ‘Rimjhim Gire Saawan’.
The evening concluded on an emotional note as all singers joined in a collective tribute with ‘Chalte Chalte Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna…’, leaving the audience visibly moved.
Remembering a Musical Genius
During the event, artists fondly remembered Kishore Kumar’s unmatched contribution to Indian cinema.
Arun Pathak called him a “multifaceted genius” who left a mark not only as a singer but also as an actor, director, and writer.
Raman Choudhary highlighted his mastery in fun-filled songs, while Jai Kumar noted how Kishore Da’s voice continues to resonate across generations.
Somesh Mishra, Rajendra Shekhar, Neeraj Singh, and Gangadhar Mishra echoed similar sentiments, calling him an “artist of rare brilliance whose songs are etched in people’s hearts.”
Tribute to Shibu Soren
At the end of the programme, the artists also paid solemn tribute to former Jharkhand Chief Minister and tribal icon Shibu Soren, expressing deep condolences on his passing. Remembering him as the father of the Jharkhand movement, the gathering observed a moment of silence in his honour.
