Police officials said NCERT’s Publication Division provided technical expertise during the raid to verify and authenticate the pirated material. Along with the counterfeit textbooks, authorities also confiscated two printing machines, aluminium printing plates, paper rolls and ink—indicating a well-organised and ongoing illegal operation.
NCERT officials reiterated that unauthorised printing, sale or distribution of its textbooks is a punishable offence under law. They warned that such piracy not only violates intellectual property rights but also risks students being supplied with inaccurate or substandard study material.
The agency has appealed to students and parents to buy textbooks only from authorised outlets and to report any suspected piracy to NCERT or local law enforcement agencies.
As part of a nationwide anti-piracy drive, authorities have seized more than 4.7 lakh fake NCERT textbooks since 2024. During the 2024–25 period alone, 29 premises involved in the production and sale of counterfeit NCERT books have been raided across the country.
To curb piracy, NCERT has rolled out multiple measures, including a 20 per cent reduction in textbook prices, timely printing and distribution, improved paper and print quality through modern machinery, and expanded online sales via e-commerce platforms.
