Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar marked Bihar’s 79th Independence Day celebrations at Gandhi Maidan with a slew of announcements aimed at youth, industry, and public welfare.
In a major relief for job aspirants, Nitish declared that the fee for preliminary tests of all state-level competitive exams will be capped at ₹100, while mains examinations will be completely free. “This will benefit lakhs of youths preparing for government jobs,” he said.
Boosting industrial growth, the CM promised doubled subsidies on capital, interest, and GST incentives, with land allocation in every district. Industries offering high employment will even get land free of cost, and disputes over industrial land will be resolved within six months. Seven districts — Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Shivhar, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, and Arwal — will soon get new medical colleges and hospitals.
For festivals like Diwali, Chhath, and Holi, the state will run special buses from Delhi, Gurugram, and Chandigarh to bring migrant workers home, and request the Centre for adequate special trains.
Addressing rural needs, Nitish announced the construction of marriage halls in all panchayats at a cost of ₹4.26 crore, aimed at helping the poor who lack proper venues for weddings.
“These measures will benefit every section of society — from youth to entrepreneurs to villagers,” Nitish said, reaffirming his commitment to Bihar’s development.
