New Delhi: In a striking rebuttal to Pakistani disinformation, Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, whom Islamabad’s media had falsely claimed to have captured during May’s border conflict, was seen posing with President Droupadi Murmu at Ambala Air Force Station during the President’s recent visit.
“The sortie on Rafale is an unforgettable experience for me. This first flight on the potent Rafale aircraft has instilled in me a renewed sense of pride in the nation’s defence capabilities. The moment, captured on camera, effectively debunked Pakistan’s propaganda, which had alleged that the Indian Air Force pilot was taken prisoner after her fighter jet was shot down during Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory mission following the Pahalgam terror attack.
In May, several Pakistani media outlets and social media accounts had circulated fabricated reports claiming that Singh’s aircraft was disabled and that she was being held as a prisoner of war.

The Indian government swiftly dismissed these reports as “fake and baseless”, posting an official clarification on X (formerly Twitter):
“Pro-Pakistan social media handles claim that an Indian female Air Force pilot, Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, has been captured in Pakistan. This claim is fake.”
With her public appearance alongside the President, Squadron Leader Singh’s presence has once again highlighted the courage and professionalism of the Indian Air Force — and exposed Pakistan’s disinformation campaign for what it was: pure fiction.
