New Delhi: Paraguayan President Santiago Peña Palacios will embark on a three-day state visit to India starting tomorrow, marking his first official trip to the country and only the second-ever by a Paraguayan head of state. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials, and business leaders.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit aims to strengthen and comprehensively review bilateral ties across multiple sectors. On the first day, President Peña will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by meetings with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
President Peña will also travel to Mumbai, where he is scheduled to meet with state leaders, as well as key figures from the business, industry, and technology sectors before concluding his visit on Wednesday.
India and Paraguay established diplomatic relations in 1961 and have since built strong cooperation in trade, agriculture, health, pharmaceuticals, and information technology. Paraguay remains a significant trading partner for India in Latin America, with growing economic engagement from both sides. The two nations also share common views on global issues such as UN reforms, climate action, renewable energy, and counter-terrorism.
