Peshawar: A coordinated suicide attack rocked the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Peshawar on Monday morning, claiming the lives of three security personnel and injuring 11 others in one of the most brazen strikes on Pakistan’s paramilitary forces in recent months.
The assault began around 8 am, when the first bomber detonated himself at the main gate. Two additional attackers attempted to breach the compound but were swiftly neutralized by FC guards, according to senior police official Mian Saeed Ahmad.
Injured Rushed to LRH; Emergency Declared
Medical teams transferred at least nine of the wounded to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
“All injured victims are out of danger and under treatment… emergency protocols have been activated,” said LRH spokesperson Mohammad Asim, confirming that both security personnel and civilians were among those hurt.
No Prior Warning, Says KP Police Chief
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed there had been no intelligence alert ahead of the strike, but praised the rapid response by FC personnel which prevented deeper infiltration and higher casualties. He added that several similar attacks had been foiled in the southern districts in recent weeks, prompting a security review last week.
Area Sealed, Search Operation Underway
A senior security source said the army and police had cordoned off the entire zone, with elite units clearing the compound amid fears that additional militants may still be hiding inside.
Rising Militant Violence
The attack comes amid a surging wave of militant violence, particularly across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where extremist outfits including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) have intensified strikes against state forces.
In September, a similar attack—blamed on the TTP—on an FC installation in Bannu killed six soldiers, highlighting Pakistan’s persistent battle with insurgent networks.
