PM Modi Embarks on Strategic Visit to UK and Maldives to Boost Global Partnerships

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday departed for a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom and Maldives, aiming to strengthen India’s global partnerships and deepen bilateral ties across key sectors.

Taking to social media ahead of his departure, PM Modi posted on X:

“Leaving for UK, a country with which our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has achieved significant momentum in the last few years. I look forward to my talks with PM Keir Starmer and my meeting with His Majesty King Charles III.”

 

Modi’s visit to the UK from July 23–26 comes at a time when the India-UK relationship has grown significantly, with collaboration across sectors such as trade, technology, defence, education, innovation, sustainability, and health.

In his official statement, the Prime Minister said,

“During my meeting with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, we will explore ways to deepen our economic engagement, focusing on prosperity, growth, and job creation in both countries. I also look forward to calling on His Majesty King Charles III during the visit.”

Following his UK stop, the Prime Minister will travel to the Maldives, where he is scheduled to meet President Mohamed Muizzu and other political leaders. The discussions will focus on advancing a Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, with an emphasis on peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.

“I am confident this visit will deliver tangible outcomes for our citizens and further strengthen our Neighbourhood First Policy,” Modi added.

This high-level visit is expected to not only reinforce India’s diplomatic and strategic presence globally but also unlock new avenues for cooperation in trade, security, and sustainable development.
