Slovakia: In a significant international recognition, President of India Droupadi Murmu was conferred the prestigious Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) by Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. The honorary title was awarded by the university’s Scientific Council in acknowledgment of her outstanding contributions to public service, governance, social justice, women’s empowerment, education, and the promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity.
During the award ceremony, President Murmu reflected on her personal journey and the transformative power of education. “Education is a tool for change. I have witnessed this in my own life — from being a teacher, to a public servant, and now serving in the highest constitutional office of India,” she said. Highlighting India’s progressive education reforms, she added, “The National Education Policy (NEP) is aimed at harnessing our demographic dividend through a focus on research, innovation, and global collaboration.”
