News Desk: British police have arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of King Charles, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to reports. The arrest reportedly took place at his residence while he was marking his 66th birthday.
According to The Daily Telegraph, investigators are examining whether Andrew shared sensitive information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as the UK’s trade envoy between 2001 and 2011.
Without publicly naming the individual, Thames Valley Police confirmed it had “arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office” and was conducting searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. Authorities said the suspect remains in custody.
The development comes amid renewed global attention on the so-called “Epstein Files,” which have reignited scrutiny over the network of high-profile figures allegedly linked to Epstein. Andrew has featured prominently in these disclosures.
He has long faced allegations from Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most widely known accusers.
Last year, King Charles stripped Andrew of his titles following mounting backlash over his association with Epstein. At the time, Andrew held the title of Duke of York.
Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said the probe was launched after a thorough assessment.
“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case and we will provide updates at the appropriate time,” Wright said.
