Rajendra Prasad Bihar Gaurav Udyan to Showcase Bihar’s Heritage from Waste

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the ambitious ‘Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Bihar Gaurav Udyan’ — a Waste-to-Wonder theme park — to be developed at a cost of ₹14.98 crore.

The park will be constructed on 10 acres of land located between the Samadhi Sthal of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and the scenic JP Ganga Path.

The project, approved by the Urban Development and Housing Department, aims to creatively showcase Bihar’s glorious past by transforming waste materials into artistic wonders. The theme park will celebrate the legacy of iconic personalities such as Aryabhatta, Chanakya, Emperor Ashoka, Dashrath Manjhi, and Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, while also reflecting the grandeur of ancient institutions like Nalanda and Vikramshila.

Alongside installations and replicas, the park will feature religious and cultural monuments including stupas, temples, and tombs, all made from recycled materials. Amenities like a food court, children’s playground, and resting areas for tourists are also planned. A grand memorial complex will be constructed at Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s current memorial site to honor his contribution to the nation.

Before laying the foundation stone, CM Nitish Kumar paid floral tributes at the Samadhi Sthal of Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of developing the park to world-class standards, given its strategic and picturesque location. “With the Samadhi on one side and the JP Ganga Path on the other, this site will become a major attraction for locals and tourists alike,” he remarked.

A short documentary detailing the concept and future layout of the park was also screened during the ceremony. The project reflects the state government’s commitment to sustainable development and cultural preservation.
