Ranchi: The Ranchi Institute of Neuro Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), Jharkhand’s premier mental healthcare centre, stepped into its centenary year on Wednesday with a series of modern initiatives launched by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Marking the milestone, Soren inaugurated a Tele Mental Health Video Conferencing Service and a Digital Academy, besides releasing a special postal stamp, a souvenir, and four books tracing the institute’s 100-year journey. Retired directors and faculty members were also felicitated for their contributions.

Reaffirming government support, the CM promised to upgrade RINPAS’ infrastructure and ensure patients receive world-class treatment. “Institutions like RINPAS are vital today as mental stress and depression rise. We will use modern medical and digital tools to provide accessible, efficient care,” he said, stressing dignity and outreach for patients often abandoned by families.
Tracing its roots to 1925, Soren lauded RINPAS’ legacy of service and pledged to strengthen it further. “For a century, RINPAS has stood for trust and care. That spirit will only grow stronger,” he added.
Union Minister Sanjay Seth, State Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, senior officials, MLAs, and experts including NIMHANS Director Dr. Pratima Murthy attended the ceremony alongside RINPAS Director Amool Ranjan Singh.
