New Delhi: Renowned painter Saroj Kumar Mishra from Bokaro, Jharkhand, was conferred the prestigious National Award today by President Draupadi Murmu at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, Delhi.
The honour came during the 64th National Art Exhibition organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, recognizing Mishra’s exceptional contributions to the field of painting.
While presenting the award, President Murmu said, “This award not only recognises Mishra’s artistic talent, but also showcases our country’s rich cultural heritage.”
An emotional Mishra, addressing the gathering after receiving the award, said, “I am grateful to the President for this honour. This award inspires me to further excel in the field of painting.”
Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat congratulated the artist, stating, “Saroj Kumar Mishra’s achievement brings pride to Jharkhand’s vibrant cultural identity and showcases it across the country.”
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Culture Secretary Vivek Agarwal, Additional Secretary Amita Prasad Sarabhai, and Lalit Kala Akademi Vice President Dr. Nand Lal Thakur, all of whom extended their heartfelt congratulations to Mishra.
Mishra’s recognition highlights the growing prominence of Jharkhand’s artistic talent on the national stage and underscores India’s rich visual arts heritage.
