Scrap Old Vehicles to Save Lives: BJP Leader Kumar Amit Demands Action in Bokaro

Bokaro: In a proactive move aimed at improving road safety and addressing vehicular congestion, BJP State Working Committee member Kumar Amit met Bokaro District Transport Officer (DTO) Mrs. Vandana Sejwalkar on Tuesday, urging swift implementation of a vehicle scrap policy in Jharkhand.

Kumar Amit stressed that introducing a state-level scrap policy for outdated vehicles would not only benefit vehicle owners through incentives but also generate additional revenue for the government and reduce the number of old, unsafe vehicles on the roads. He appealed to the District Transport Office to take departmental initiative in pushing the matter forward with the state Transport Department.

Highlighting another serious concern, Amit demanded immediate action to curb the rising number of road accidents in Bokaro. Citing a sharp rise in mishaps over the past three years, he called it a “disturbing trend” that requires both administrative and public awareness to tackle effectively.

In addition, the BJP leader put forth several key demands: Installation of High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in all vehicles manufactured before 2019; Introduction of government-run public transport services in Bokaro for the ease of commuters and Regulation of arbitrary fare collection by private bus operators across the district.

The meeting was also attended by party members Lalbabu, Govinda, and Surendra Kumar, who supported the demands and called for immediate action to make Bokaro’s roads safer and its transport system more efficient.
