Kyiv: Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on India’s “authoritative voice and active role” in pushing for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war with Russia. His remarks came after a key discussion with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, focusing on strengthening the Ukraine-India strategic partnership and implementing agreements signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sybiha tweeted, “I updated my Indian counterpart on the current battlefield situation and Ukraine’s relentless efforts to achieve a just peace. We rely on India’s influential position to support a full ceasefire and global peace initiatives.”

Meanwhile, Russian forces continued aggressive attacks across Ukraine overnight, resulting in at least four fatalities and dozens injured. Among the targeted sites was the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv, which suffered significant damage and caught fire, forcing emergency services into intense firefighting operations. At least two people died and 18 were injured in the capital, officials confirmed.

Elsewhere, a drone strike in the Dnipropetrovsk region killed a 54-year-old man, while in Sumy, one person died and several, including a nine-year-old child, were injured. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a drone attack injured 15 civilians, four hospitalized, with residential buildings reduced to rubble.
AFP correspondents reported plumes of smoke rising over Kyiv as helicopters battled the blaze. Authorities had imposed a nationwide air alert early Sunday morning.
The conflict, ignited by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, has continued to devastate the region, with diplomatic efforts intensifying to secure peace.
