New Delhi: In a significant step toward strengthening international development ties, a high-level World Bank delegation led by India Country Director Auguste Tano Kouame met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Jharkhand Bhawan in New Delhi. The meeting centered around expanding cooperation in areas like rural economy, poverty reduction, and sustainable investment in the state.
Praising the state government’s flagship welfare scheme Mukhyamantri Mainiya Samman Yojana, Kouame called it a meaningful initiative for social empowerment and expressed the World Bank’s keen interest in supporting Jharkhand’s inclusive growth strategy.
Chief Minister Soren highlighted a range of initiatives currently underway in Jharkhand, including climate-resilient infrastructure, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, tourism promotion, and education and skill development programs aimed at boosting employment and rural livelihoods.
The World Bank team appreciated Jharkhand’s development trajectory and offered technical and institutional support for better implementation of welfare schemes and capacity-building initiatives. The two sides also agreed to organise a joint workshop in Ranchi soon to explore collaborative models and directly benefit grassroots communities.
