22 countries requested India for supply of COVID-19 vaccines

JNS: India has received requests for the supply of COVID-19 vaccines from 22 countries, said Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. Speaking in Lok Sabha Minister said, India has already supplied Corona vaccines to 15 countries.

The vaccines have been supplied both as grant assistance and contract doses. He said, as of February 2, a total of 56 lakh doses have been given as grant assistance and 105 lakh as contracts doses, he said.

He informed, India recorded 7,580 adverse events after COVID-19 vaccine drive and 12 deaths, not causally related to vaccination.

“All these events were reported till January 31,” added Minister while responding to a question on the adverse side-effects of COVID-19 vaccines.

“These deaths were investigated and examined by the experts and as per current evidence none of these deaths have a causal relationship with COVID-19 vaccination,” he said in a written reply.

COVID-19 vaccine not tested on citizens without their consent, he said.

He also said that during clinical trials, all vaccines were tested only after obtaining the necessary consent from the participants. The third phase of vaccination drive in which people above 50 years of age will be vaccinated is likely to start from March.

Meanwhile, India has become the fastest country to complete 50 lakhs COVID-19 vaccinations in 21 days. While the US took 24 days and the UK 43 days, Israel took 45 days to complete 50 lakh vaccination.

Around 52 lakh 90 thousand 4 hundred 74 beneficiaries have been vaccinated till 6 PM on Friday, said Dr Manohar Agnani Additional Secretary in Health Ministry. He was briefing to the media at New Delhi.

He said, a total of 1 lakh 4 thousand 7 hundred 81 sessions have been held till now. Dr Agnani said 3 lakh 31 thousand 29 beneficiaries were vaccinated all over the country yesterday.
