DPS Bokaro Celebrates National Sports Day

JNS I Bokaro: Commemorating the birth anniversary of the hockey maestro Major Dhyan Chand, and to promote the  spirit of sports among students, DPS Bokaro celebrated National Sports Day with the theme ‘ Let us play again’. In the week long programme various competitions were organized which included chess, badminton, basketball and volleyball wherein the students and the  teachers participated with the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The celebration highlighted not only the importance of sports and games but also cheered the opportunity to play together again after the long gap due to the global crisis.

The grand culmination today witnessed a fiesta of cultural activities related to sports. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Kiran Rani Nayak, Deputy Manager, Personal, BCCL, Dhanbad.

The programme started with the  welcome song and the school song followed by a melodious rendition “Khelenge Jamke jab hum Sports”, written and composed by the music teachers of the school. A fascinating yoga drill and an energetic zumba dance performance added glitter to the event. The winners of different sport events were felicitated by the Chief Guest.

The vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal, Mr. Anjani Bhushan.

Addressing the gathering of spirited students and other faculty members, the Chief Guest said  that sports is no more only sweat, it has become a word that is associated with science. “The advancement in the field of technology has raced in a new dimension in sports which everyone needs to embrace and implement.” Showering words of praise for the school, Nayak also thanked the dynamic Principal for making sports and studies collaborative.

Encouraging the gusto of the students, A. S. Gangwar, Principal, DPS Bokaro, said, “Sports is a potential means which develops multiple skills in an individual . It strengthens  social integrity and  promotes solidarity, tolerance, patriotism, leadership  and brotherhood amongst all.”
