Mississippi tornadoes claim 26 lives, several injured

JNS: At least 26 people were killed and several injured after a tornado and severe storms swept through the state of Mississippi in the United States, last night.

Tens of thousands of people in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee are without power, and at least four people have been reported missing or injured, as stated by the emergency management organization for the southern state.

According to the media reports, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves stated that it is anticipated that the number of fatalities will continue to grow as search and rescue activities continue in Sharkey and Humphreys counties.

The National Weather Service issued a warning to local communities that households should continue with clean-up efforts even after storms have passed because threats still exist.
