Two cops killed, three injured as PCR SUV hits divider

Two cops were killed and three cops of State Auxiliary Police (SAP) injured in an accident involving the escort PCR SUV collided with divider, skidded off and turned turtle on NH 23 near Jaridih police station in Bokaro district of Jharkhand on Tuesday evening.

The PCR was escorting the convoy of Jharkhand State Labour Minister Raj Paliwal who was on his way to Ranchi from Deoghar. Instead of checking on the victims, minister’s convoy did not stop, went ahead leaving the injured unexpected, said Ramanand Thakur an eyewitness.

ASI Umesh Kumar Singh and driver of the PCR Pramod Mandal died on the spot while Jagroop and Ram Ayodhya Prasad rushed to the Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) with multiple injuries with the help of locals. Their conditions are said to be critical, a hospital source said.

Soon after getting the information Bokaro SP Kartik S immediately rushed to the BGH, meets the doctors and wished for a speedy recovery of the cops. Meanwhile, several eyewitnesses confirmed that the minister did not stop at the accident spot, and immediately drove off without helping the injured.
