Bokaro: Four young basketball players from Bokaro have earned a place in the Jharkhand teams competing in the 51st Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship 2026, being held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, from September 27 to October 4.
The selected players include three boys and one girl from the Bokaro District Basketball Association. Bokaro has also contributed to the coaching staff, with Kinkar Krishna serving as head coach of the Jharkhand girls’ team.
Representing the Jharkhand boys’ team are Suryansh, associated with DPS Chas and its Basketball Training Centre; Naveen Kumar Paswan of DAV Ispat Vidyalaya, Sector-12; and Ashish Kumar of Mount Zion School, Sector-12. Ishita has been selected for the Jharkhand girls’ team.
The players underwent an intensive 10-day preparatory coaching camp before travelling to Vijayawada. The camp was conducted under the guidance of Jharkhand Basketball Association Secretary Jo Singh, with a focus on improving the players’ skills, fitness and match preparedness ahead of the national championship.
The selection of four Bokaro players for the national-level tournament has brought pride to the district’s basketball fraternity. Coaches, players and sports enthusiasts have congratulated the youngsters on earning the opportunity to represent Jharkhand.
Satyendra, president of the Bokaro District Basketball Association, extended his best wishes to the players and expressed confidence in their performance at the championship. Association Secretary Kanhaiya Prasad also congratulated the selected players and wished them success in the national competition.
The Bokaro District Basketball Association team conveyed its best wishes to all four players as well as coach Kinkar Krishna, hoping that the Jharkhand contingent will put up a strong performance in Vijayawada.
