Urgent Call for Action on Urdu Teacher Vacancies in Jharkhand Schools

Ranchi: Amin Ahmed, Central General Secretary of the Jharkhand Raj Urdu Shikshak Sangh, has urged the Education Department to expedite the posting of Urdu teachers to fill vacant positions in CM Excellent Schools and Adarsh Vidyalayas. The department had previously invited applications through the e-Vidyavahini (eVV) app, receiving 77 applications from Urdu teachers.

On July 25, 2024, all applicants participated in an orientation and online examination, with departmental action threatened for absentees. Subsequently, 37 teachers made it to the merit list and attended a centralized counseling session on August 30, 2024. However, only one vacancy was announced for Urdu teachers, leading to concerns about the sudden change in available positions.

Ahmed questioned the Education Department’s rationale, citing a previous letter indicating 11 sanctioned posts for TGT Urdu in the Ranchi district alone, with five vacancies. He emphasized the inadequate staffing for 80 CM Utkrishta Vidyalayas and 325 Adarsh Uchch Vidyalayas across the state, warning that this could jeopardize the educational future of Urdu-speaking students.

In response, a delegation from the association met with Minority Welfare Minister Hafizul Hasan Ansari, who took immediate note of the issue and recommended action to the Education Secretary. The delegation included prominent union members who expressed their commitment to escalating the matter to higher authorities, including the Chief Minister and Education Minister, if necessary.
