What triggered Trump’s fury? Israel accused Iran of firing two ballistic missiles at its northern region shortly after the ceasefire’s 5 a.m. GMT start. But instead of solely blaming Tehran, Trump turned his ire on Israel — furious at the scale of its retaliation before the ceasefire even officially began.

Reports say Israeli warplanes had already dropped a significant number of bombs overnight. Upon waking up in Washington, Trump immediately ordered those jets to turn back midair, warning that further attacks would be a “MAJOR VIOLATION.”
“ISRAEL IS NOT GOING TO ATTACK IRAN,” Trump wrote on social media in all caps. “ALL PLANES WILL TURN AROUND AND HEAD HOME, WHILE DOING A FRIENDLY ‘PLANE WAVE’ TO IRAN.”
The verbal dressing-down came just a day after Trump touted the ceasefire deal online as a “HUGE achievement.” Yet by Tuesday morning, he conceded: “I think they both violated it… I don’t like that Israel went out this morning at all.”
The chaos followed a whirlwind escalation in West Asia. The U.S. had launched an unprecedented strike on Iranian nuclear sites — its first direct attack on Iranian soil. Iran swiftly retaliated with missiles on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which hosts U.S. troops. No American casualties were reported.
Hours later, Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. But by Tuesday, Israel confirmed airstrikes on Tehran had resumed. Iran’s counterstrike killed four Israelis, escalating fears of a regional war.
