Israel’s PM Netanyahu Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize Amid Mideast Turmoil

Washington, D.C.: In a dramatic gesture during a high-profile meeting in the US, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially nominated former US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his efforts to broker peace in conflict zones.

Handing over the nomination letter personally to Trump, Netanyahu praised him for “forging peace, as we speak, in one country, in one region after the other.”

“So, I want to present to you, Mr. President, the letter I sent to the Nobel Prize Committee; it’s nominating you for the Peace Prize, which is well deserved, and you should get it,” Netanyahu said across the table, as reported by CNN.

Visibly moved, Trump responded, “Coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful. Thank you very much.”

This marked the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Netanyahu since US strikes targeted Iran’s nuclear program during a recent 12-day flare-up between Iran and Israel.

The meeting was held in Washington after Netanyahu flew in for a private dinner with Trump — even as fighting continues in Gaza, and indirect ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas entered a second day in Qatar. The discussions aim to broker a ceasefire and a possible hostage deal, with the US hopeful for a resolution “within the week.”

In an interesting twist, this is not Trump’s only recent nomination. Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir also nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize earlier this year, citing his role in facilitating the India-Pakistan ceasefire during Operation Sindoor.
