New Delhi: A political storm erupted after the Election Commission (EC) accused the Congress of posting an “AI-generated” video alleging large-scale voter fraud in Bihar.
The video, shared on the party’s official X handle, showed clips of citizens claiming votes were stolen through fake registrations and wrongful deletions, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s repeated allegations. Each clip carried an “AI-generated” disclaimer and ended with a call to join Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra beginning Sunday.

Hours later, the EC fact-checked the post, calling it “a clear attempt to mislead voters.” It stressed that Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was being carried out “with full transparency” under SDMs/EROs, 90,000 booth-level officers, and 1.6 lakh agents from 12 political parties — including Congress itself.
The row comes amid Gandhi’s charge that the EC is colluding with the BJP to enable voter fraud. He earlier cited irregularities in Karnataka and now alleges mass deletions of living voters in Bihar.
The dispute has reached the Supreme Court, which recently ordered the EC to disclose the names of 65 lakh voters struck off the Bihar rolls, including 22 lakh classified as deceased. The poll body insists the deletions were due to death, migration, duplication, or failed verification, and says its aim is to ensure “every eligible voter is included.”
Rejecting the “vote chori” charge, the EC urged Congress to present verifiable evidence instead of “undermining poll officials’ integrity.”
