Kyiv: Russia launched a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, killing at least four people and injuring dozens, Ukrainian authorities reported on Sunday. The capital Kyiv was among the hardest hit, as a government building caught fire, causing serious damage to the Cabinet of Ministers headquarters.
The State Emergency Service confirmed that multiple high-rise buildings in Kyiv were damaged, while dramatic images circulated on social media showed firefighters battling flames on upper floors. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko posted on Telegram that the building’s roof and top floors were hit in the assault, with rescue teams working to contain the blaze as helicopters dropped water over the smoldering structure.

In total, two people died and 18 were injured in Kyiv alone. Meanwhile, the Dnipropetrovsk region suffered a deadly drone strike that killed a 54-year-old man and wounded several others. In the northeastern Sumy region, one person was killed and multiple others—including a nine-year-old child—were injured, as confirmed by regional governor Oleg Grygorov.
The southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia also faced heavy bombardment, with at least 15 people wounded, four of whom were hospitalized. Regional military administrator Ivan Fedorov shared images showing residential blocks reduced to rubble.
Elsewhere, dozens of explosions were reported in Kremenchuk, knocking out power in parts of the city, its mayor Vitalii Maletskyi said. In Kryvyi Rih, Russian strikes damaged transport infrastructure but caused no casualties, according to local military head Oleksandr Vilkul.
In a swift retaliation, Ukraine targeted Russia’s Druzhba oil pipeline in the Bryansk region, inflicting “comprehensive fire damage,” according to Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s drone forces.

A nationwide air alert had been declared early Sunday morning as Ukrainian forces braced for the escalation. The latest strikes mark one of the deadliest offensives since Russia’s full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, following years of rising tensions after Moscow’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and support for separatists in eastern Ukraine.
The conflict has since left tens of thousands dead and displaced over six million Ukrainians, creating one of Europe’s gravest humanitarian crises, according to the United Nations.
