JNS: At least seven people were injured on Tuesday when a blast on railway tracks derailed four bogies of the Jaffar Express in Shikarpur district, Sindh, near the Balochistan border. The explosion occurred at 8:15 am, Shikarpur Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Abro told Dawn.
The Jaffar Express, running between Peshawar and Quetta, has been repeatedly targeted. In August, a similar blast derailed six bogies in Mastung district, Balochistan, just days after another explosion in Sibi.

In March, the train was hijacked by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), leaving dozens dead, including 33 hijackers and at least 24 soldiers and passengers. The BLA, which fights for Baloch self-determination, has long waged an armed insurgency against Pakistani rule, claiming the province’s integration into Pakistan is illegitimate.
Security authorities are investigating Tuesday’s incident as part of ongoing concerns over attacks on railways in the volatile region.
Meanwhile, following the blast, the Baloch Republican Guards claimed responsibility for the attack on Jaffar Express.
