Ayodhya: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is set to add a personal touch to Ayodhya’s growing pilgrimage landscape with a proposed 20-plus-room dharamshala in memory of his father, legendary Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
The proposed facility is planned on land purchased by Bachchan in Ayodhya. According to Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) officials, the building plan has been submitted for approval and the authority has invited public objections before taking a final decision.
ADA Vice Chairman Anurag Jain said the proposed dharamshala would provide accommodation and related facilities for devotees visiting Ayodhya from across the country.

₹15-Crore Ayodhya Property
Media reports say Bachchan acquired the land (around 54,000 sq ft) for around ₹15 crore in The Sarayu project along Dashrath Path in 2024. Construction is expected to begin after the necessary approvals, with October 2026 reported as a tentative start.
The exact timeline, however, will depend on the statutory approval process.
A Tribute to Harivansh Rai Bachchan
The project is also envisioned as a tribute to Harivansh Rai Bachchan, the celebrated poet best known for Madhushala. The proposed facility would thus combine a memorial purpose with accommodation for pilgrims and visitors to Ayodhya.
For now, Bachchan’s proposed Ayodhya project stands at the approval stage, with the planned dharamshala linking his family legacy with the needs of visitors to the temple city.
