Interactive 3D AI avatar lets visitors converse with the former Prime Minister

New Delhi: In a significant blend of history and technology, the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya has inaugurated an AI-powered Holobox of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, enabling visitors to engage in real-time conversations with a lifelike 3D digital avatar of the late statesman. The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of Vajpayee’s family and coincided with the observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

AI Brings Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Life

Installed in the museum’s Anubhuti Zone, the AI Holobox recreates Vajpayee in a hyper-realistic, life-size holographic form. Visitors can ask questions about his life, political philosophy, governance, foreign policy, poetry and major national events, and receive AI-generated responses based on his speeches, writings and verified historical records. The initiative is designed to provide an immersive learning experience, particularly for students and young visitors.

According to officials, Vajpayee’s Holobox is the fourth AI-powered interactive hologram introduced at the museum after those of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Mahatma Gandhi, reflecting the Sangrahalaya’s growing use of artificial intelligence to present India’s political history in an engaging manner.

Special Tribute on Kargil Vijay Diwas

The launch of the AI Holobox was accompanied by a special exhibition commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas. Since the 1999 Kargil War was fought during Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister, the exhibition highlights his leadership during the conflict.

The exhibition features rare archival photographs, microfilms, personal letters of Kargil heroes and historical videos documenting Operation Vijay and the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces.
