New Delhi: Air India, owned by the Tata Group, announced on Wednesday that it has introduced in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity on both domestic and international flights operated by Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft.
This makes Air India the first Indian airline to provide Wi-Fi services on domestic flights, allowing passengers to stay connected throughout their journey.
Whether traveling for business or leisure, passengers can now browse the internet, access social media, work, or text friends and family while in the air. Rajesh Dogra, Air India’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, emphasized the growing importance of connectivity in modern travel.
“For some, it’s about real-time sharing, while for others, it’s about productivity. We are confident our guests will enjoy the option to stay connected and experience the enhanced Air India service onboard,” he said.
The Wi-Fi service is available on devices like laptops, tablets, and smartphones with iOS or Android operating systems. Passengers can connect multiple devices simultaneously once the aircraft reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet.
The rollout of Wi-Fi on domestic flights follows a successful pilot program on international routes, including those to New York, London, Paris, and Singapore, using the Airbus A350, select Airbus A321neo, and Boeing B787-9 aircraft.
As part of an introductory offer, Wi-Fi will be complimentary for passengers, with the service expected to expand across Air India’s fleet in the future.
