Bokaro: A musical evening was organised in Sector-12B to mark the birth anniversary of legendary singer and Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar. The programme, organised by the Swaragini Musical Group, also remembered renowned playback singer Mahendra Kapoor on his death anniversary.
The programme began with floral tributes to the portraits of Lata Mangeshkar and Mahendra Kapoor by coordinator Raman Chaudhary and singers Arun Pathak, Somesh Mishra, Purnendu Kumar Singh, Ranju Singh, Sunita Gupta, Ranjana Sinha and Shweta Priyadarshini.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Pathak recalled Lata Mangeshkar’s distinctive voice and immense contribution to Indian music. He said her legacy would remain closely associated with the history of Indian music. He also remembered Mahendra Kapoor for his memorable playback singing, particularly patriotic songs, bhajans and energetic film numbers.
Raman Chaudhary said Lata Mangeshkar’s voice had a unique appeal, while Mahendra Kapoor was known for his powerful singing. Somesh Mishra highlighted Lata Mangeshkar’s contribution to taking film music to a wider audience. Ranju Singh also recalled her long-standing admiration for Lata Mangeshkar’s songs.
