Bokaro: Bokaro is set to become a national hub for young kabaddi talent as it hosts the 36th Sub-Junior National Girls’ Kabaddi Championship from December 27 to 30, 2026, at Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector 4. Around 600 selected participants from across India are expected to take part in the four-day championship, organised by the Kabaddi Association of Jharkhand under the aegis of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI).
Addressing the media, DPS Bokaro Principal Dr A. S. Gangwar, executive president of the organising committee, said the school was fully prepared to host the prestigious event. He termed it a matter of pride for Bokaro and Jharkhand, adding that arrangements were being made for players’ accommodation and an indoor competition arena.
Kabaddi Association of Jharkhand president Gopal Thakur said the association was committed to nurturing emerging talent by providing young players with competitive opportunities across the state. He expressed confidence that the championship would be a success with support from the state government, concerned departments and district administration.
Organising committee chairman and Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto was also acknowledged for his support for sports development and athletes in Jharkhand.
International kabaddi technical official Bipin Kumar Singh, who recently returned from the Asian Games in Japan, said the championship would give budding players an opportunity to learn from leading sportspersons, including Dronacharya and Arjuna awardees and international players associated with the Indian senior kabaddi team.
Several sports officials and dignitaries attended the press conference, including Mukesh Kumar, Dr Chand Kishore Thakur, Kumar Amardeep, Manoranjan Kumar, Harsh Aryan, Mukesh Agrawal, Pawan Singh, Shweta Kumari, Pallavi, Vicky Pandey and Kuldeep Jha.
