Dawoodi Bohra Muslim delegation thanks PM Modi for Waqf Act amendment

New Delhi: A delegation from the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to express their appreciation for the recent amendment to the Waqf Act, 2025. The group hailed the legislative change as a significant step forward in addressing a long-standing community demand, media report reveals.

During the interaction, the representatives commended the Prime Minister’s inclusive governance model, reiterating their trust in his vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas—emphasizing unity, development, and trust for all.

The Dawoodi Bohra community, with roots in western India, has a global presence across more than 40 countries. They trace their spiritual lineage to the Fatimid Imams of Egypt, believed to be direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad. For the last 450 years, the community has followed the guidance of the al-dai al-mutlaq (unrestricted missionary), with its religious leadership headquartered in India since migrating from Yemen.

The delegation’s visit underscores the community’s continued engagement with national leadership and support for progressive legislative reform.
