Dhanbad Jail Launches Online Meeting Facility for Prisoners and Families

Dhanbad: In a significant move to enhance communication between inmates and their families, Dhanbad Divisional Jail has launched an online meeting facility. The new service was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Virendra Kumar Tiwari at the E-Seva Kendra, located within the Civil Court premises.

Judge Tiwari highlighted that the E-Seva Kendra will allow relatives and friends of prisoners to interact virtually, eliminating the need for physical visits to the jail. The facility aims to bridge the gap between inmates and their loved ones, particularly in light of the challenges posed by restricted prison visits.

Beyond virtual meetings, the E-Seva Kendra will offer a range of services designed to improve legal accessibility. These include providing updates on case statuses, court hearing schedules, access to legal certificates, online case filing, e-signature services, and document uploads to the Case Information System (CIS).

Additionally, the center will allow users to book e-meeting appointments for virtual visits, access information about judges on leave, and find the locations of special courts. It will also serve as a key point for free legal aid services, collaborating with the District Legal Services Authority, High Court Legal Services Committee, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.

The E-Seva Kendra will further facilitate court hearings through video conferencing and offer digital copies of court orders via email, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for all involved.
