ESL encourages cleanliness, sanitation on Gandhi Jayanti

Bokaro: On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Vedanta-Electrosteel (ESL) launched Swatch Bharat Abhiyan and cleanliness awareness programs in a Siyaljori village in Bokaro district.

One of the most significant and popular missions to have been introduced in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was initiated to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India, said an ESL Public Relations Official.

Besides, spreading the message of a clean and hygienic India among the villagers, team ESL distributed bleaching powder and installed dustbins across prominent areas of the village. As part of the movement, village representatives went on a cleanliness drive to inspire the local people to maintain hygiene and keep the surroundings clean, he said.

ESL team also spread the message of sanitation and educated villagers on the urgent need for cleanliness during the present COVID times. Speaking on the occasion Nemchand Mahato, a JMM leader of Siyaljori said, “We are really happy with the efforts made by ESL to clean the village.”

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program is a great initiative on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The program aims to clean up the entire Siyaljori village. The drive started from Chamuraidih and some places like Manjhitola, which needed major cleaning, have been completely cleaned by the company.

“The awareness program also helped the villagers understand the best possible ways to keep the surroundings clean and healthy especially during these uncertain COVID times,” added Mahato.

Notably, ESL at Siyaljori has a 1.5 MTPA greenfield integrated steel plant that produces pig iron, billets, TMT bars, wire rods and ductile iron pipes. The plant works in sync with the prescribed environmental standards while bringing international expertise and solutions from reputed manufacturers to offer world-class services and products.
