Exit polls predict Modi’s return for 3rd term; close in to ‘400 par’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears set to secure a record-equalling third term, with the BJP-led NDA alliance projected to achieve a resounding majority, as indicated by exit polls following the seventh and final phase of polling on Saturday.

Despite anticipated seat losses in states such as Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Haryana, the BJP is expected to make significant gains in West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Additionally, the BJP-led NDA is predicted to establish footholds in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The exit polls forecast the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing around 350 or more seats, while the opposition’s INDIA bloc is likely to win between 125 and 150 seats.

Amidst slogans aiming for over 400 seats in the 543-member Parliament, the exit polls reflect a substantial mandate for a third term under Modi’s leadership.

According to the Republic-PMARQ poll, the NDA is expected to win 359 seats, with the INDIA bloc securing around 154, followed by 30 seats going to other parties. The Republic-Matrize poll projects up to 368 seats for the NDA.

The Matrize projection suggests that the NDA will garner between 353 and 368 seats, while the INDIA bloc will obtain 118 to 133 seats, with others winning 43 to 48 seats.

NDTV India-Jan Ki Baat’s exit poll suggests that the BJP-led NDA could win between 362 and 392 seats, while the INDIA bloc is expected to secure between 141 and 161 seats.

The comprehensive exit poll results signal a decisive victory for the BJP-led NDA and a historic third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
