Meghahatuburu (Kiriburu), Jharkhand: Marking a milestone in the sporting history of Jharkhand, the Pro Volleyball League Jharkhand 2025 was successfully held from April 16 to 20 at the picturesque and high-altitude town of Meghahatuburu.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Meghahatuburu — a serene town perched 3,000 feet above sea level within Asia largest Sal forest, Saranda — the Pro Volleyball League Jharkhand 2025 introduced a fresh wave of enthusiasm and structure to the regional sports landscape.
The event featured six franchise-based teams: Saranda Elephant, Net Ninjas, SA Tigers, Civil Super Kings, Mechanical Warriors, and Mining Tigers. Each squad was made up of 10 skilled players hailing from Jharkhand and neighbouring Odisha, underscoring the league’s regional inclusivity and grassroots spirit.
What made this event truly unique was its vibrant match schedule — games were played from twilight into the late hours of the night under brilliant floodlights.
The result was a festive, high-energy atmosphere that brought hundreds of spectators together in celebration of sport. Night after night, fans cheered their teams with unrelenting spirit, turning every match into a spectacle.
“This is more than just a competition — it’s the start of a movement,” said Jaideep Sarkar, Olympic Educator, Chief Coach of the Indian Men’s Volleyball Team (2023), and Sports Consultant at SAIL Bokaro adding, “With support from institutions like SAIL and the state government, this league can be a vehicle for transformative change — promoting values, discipline, and unity through sport in rural and tribal regions.”
Beyond volleyball, the league carries a deeper message — using sport as a tool for empowerment and community development in some of India’s most remote areas, he said.
“This is a visionary initiative. It will not only uncover hidden talent but also motivate young people in isolated regions to view sport as a means to personal growth, fitness, and opportunity,” Jaideep added.
With growing ambitions to scale up in the coming years, the Pro Volleyball League Jharkhand is poised to become a signature event for Eastern India — fusing competitive excellence with local pride in the heart of the Saranda hills.
Meanwhile, the authorities from the Iron Ore Mines Division of SAIL Bokaro, based in Meghahatuburu and Kiriburu, have expressed strong enthusiasm for the Pro Volleyball League, engaging actively with Dr. Jaideep, Sports Consultant at SAIL Bokaro.
Plans are already underway to construct an indoor volleyball stadium, a move that aligns with the broader vision of fostering a thriving sports culture. This initiative promises to amplify the event’s impact, potentially becoming a significant asset to the local community and beyond.
