Dhanbad:  The Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad, kicked off a high-profile international conference on Friday, focusing on the transformative role of digital technologies in achieving business excellence and sustainable development, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

Organized by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, the International Conference on Digital Technologies for Business Excellence and Sustainable Development (ICDTBESDVB 2025) brought together leading minds from academia, industry, and government across India and abroad.

Dr. Konga Gopikrishna, Head of Geospatial Innovation Cell, DST, graced the event as Chief Guest, urging participants to explore holistic, talent-driven innovation to realize India’s development goals. He emphasized that nation-building goes beyond tech adoption—it requires integrated and inclusive solutions.

Former CMD of ECL & SECL, Dr. P.S. Mishra, highlighted the need for mindset transformation, teamwork, and leadership alongside digital progress. “Innovation culture is as critical as the technology itself,” he said.

Presiding over the event, IIT (ISM) Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra called development a philosophical as well as material pursuit, praising such conferences for their deeper knowledge exchange. Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar spotlighted India’s digital strides—from UPI success to big data generation—and stressed the importance of data analytics in strategic decision-making.

The inaugural session also featured a welcome by Prof. Sandeep Mondal, Conference Chairperson, and an overview by Prof. Rashmi Singh, Convenor. A vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Esha Saha.

The conference featured impactful keynotes by global experts: Prof. Magesh Chandramouli (Purdue University, USA) on the Metaverse and VR, Prof. Pierre René Maréchal (Toulouse Institute, France) on Non-linear Optimization, Prof. Sanjay Mishra (IFE, Norway) on AI-driven financial security and Dr. P.S. Mishra on digitization in coal mining.

A standout moment was a live blockchain demo by Ashish Tripathi, Blockchain Architect, Hashgraph Group, Hyderabad.

More than 148 peer-reviewed papers, selected from 260+ global submissions, were presented during the post-lunch sessions. These will be published in Scopus-indexed proceedings by Taylor & Francis, with options for extended versions in WoS/Scopus journals.

Experts like Prof. Sangeeta Sahney (IIT Kharagpur) and Prof. Rupesh Kumar Pati (IIM Kozhikode) explored evolving trends in digital marketing and the SDG-tech interface.

The two-day conference continues on July 6, with more expert talks, research presentations, and discussions dedicated to building a digitally empowered and sustainable India by 2047.
