IIT-ISM Prof. to get MGMI Award for Excellence in Mineral Engineering, Earth Sciences

JNS: Professor Mrinal Kanti Mukherjee, the esteemed Head of the Department of Applied Geology at the Indian Institute of Technology, ISM, Dhanbad, has been named as the recipient of the prestigious MGMI (Mining, Geological, and Metallurgical Institute of India) Award for Excellence in Mineral Engineering and Earth Sciences for the year 2022-2023.

Professor Mukherjee has made substantial and noteworthy contributions to the field of Structural Geology and Engineering Geology, significantly advancing our understanding of Earth’s processes and mineral exploration. His work extends to his valuable contributions to industry and professional organizations through consultancy services and capacity-building efforts. The MGMI Award serves as a testament to Professor Mukherjee’s dedication to education, research, industry, and society.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 23rd of September, 2023 at the Taj City Centre in New Town, Kolkata. Dr. Mukherjee, who holds a Ph.D. degree from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, specializes in Structural Geology in Exploration and Engineering Geology, with a focus on the deformation of Proterozoic Basins.

This recognition underscores Professor Mukherjee’s exceptional contributions to the fields of mineral engineering and earth sciences, acknowledging his outstanding achievements and expertise in these critical domains.
