New Delhi: India and Pakistan on Thursday exchanged the annual list of nuclear installations and facilities covered under their bilateral agreement prohibiting attacks on such sites, reaffirming a key confidence-building measure between the two neighbours.

The exchange took place simultaneously through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

Under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities, both countries are mandated to share details of designated nuclear sites every year on January 1. The pact was signed on December 31, 1988, and came into force on January 27, 1991.

This year’s exchange marks the 35th consecutive sharing of such lists, underscoring the continuity of the arrangement despite periodic strains in bilateral relations.
