Indian Army Shoots Down Multiple Drones Over Khasa Cantt in Amritsar, Shares Video

Amritsar: The Indian Army confirmed on Saturday that several armed drones originating from across the border were detected and destroyed over Khasa Cantonment area in Amritsar, amid rising tensions with Pakistan.

In an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Army said: “Pakistan’s blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders. In one such incident, today at approximately 5 AM, multiple enemy armed drones were spotted flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. The hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by our air defence units.”

The Army also released video footage showing the air defence response and destruction of the aerial threats.

In a related incident, a civilian home in Punjab’s Ferozepur district was struck by a drone, leaving three members of a local family injured. The Ministry of Defence stated that medical aid was immediately provided and the area has since been secured and sanitised by security personnel.

These latest drone incursions come just days after India reportedly intercepted and neutralised 300 to 400 drones launched by Pakistan across 36 urban centres during the May 8 escalation.

The heightened drone activity follows India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a large-scale military response targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the earlier Pahalgam attack.

The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert as border hostilities continue to intensify.
