IndiGo Soars to Become World’s 3rd Largest Airline by Market Cap

Mumbai: IndiGo Airlines has clinched the title of the world’s third-largest airline by market capitalization. This milestone comes as stocks of its operator, InterGlobe Aviation Limited, surged to a new all-time high on April 10, trading 5 percent higher at Rs 3,801 apiece during afternoon trade.

The airline’s parent company’s shares have rallied 22 percent over the past month, propelling InterGlobe Aviation’s total market value to over Rs 1,46,000 crore ($17.5 billion), according to Bloomberg data.

IndiGo surpassed United Airlines in December 2023 to claim the sixth-largest airline globally. Currently, Delta Air and Ryanair Holdings hold the first two positions, with market caps of $30.4 billion and $26.5 billion, respectively.

As of 3:04 pm, InterGlobe Aviation was trading at Rs 3,798, up 4.5 percent from the previous close on the NSE. The share price has soared by a staggering 99.7 percent in the last year.
