Jamshedpur: The CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) today inaugurated the EMBT-2025 Conference, a major event aimed at advancing innovation and collaboration in sustainable mineral beneficiation.
The three-day conference brings together around 150 delegates from 22 leading organizations, academia, and industry to explore energy-efficient, zero-waste technologies for India’s mineral sector.
Welcoming participants, Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, emphasized the strategic role of mineral beneficiation in enhancing ore quality and boosting industrial productivity, while ensuring environmental sustainability. He noted that the adoption of advanced mineral processing, automation, and green technologies could transform the sector.
Dr. Devabrata Mishra, Chairman of EMBT-2025 and Head of the Mineral Processing Division, outlined the conference agenda, focusing on sustainable utilization of ferrous, non-ferrous, industrial, and strategic minerals.
He stressed that EMBT-2025 serves as a key platform for researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to collaborate on innovative and eco-conscious solutions.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Ltd., who praised CSIR-NML’s significant contributions to India’s metallurgical landscape.
In his address, he underlined the importance of mineral beneficiation in driving self-reliance and environmental responsibility in India’s resource management. He also highlighted Hindustan Copper’s efforts in digitization, sustainable processing technologies, and expanded downstream integration.
The conference features 66 technical paper presentations across nine sessions and a dedicated poster session showcasing CSIR-NML’s R&D innovations. Eminent speakers delivering plenary lectures included Subodh Pandey (VP, Technology, Tata Steel), Dr. Pardip (Former, TRDDC), Dr. P.K. Banerjee (CSIR-CIMFR), and Prof. D.K. Singh (IIT-ISM Dhanbad).
Over the course of the event, nine keynote lectures will address cutting-edge research and emerging trends.
Dr. R.K. Rath, Senior Principal Scientist and Convenor of EMBT-2025, delivered the vote of thanks, noting the enthusiastic participation from institutions like Tata Steel, Hindustan Copper, Hindustan Zinc, AMNS India, NMDC, SAIL, Coal India, JSW Steel, IITs, and various CSIR laboratories.
