ISM professor elected as a fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India for 2023

JNS: RK Upadhyay, Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics & Computing, IIT-ISM, Dhanbad, was elected a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, for the year 2023.

He is a Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics & Computing of IIT-ISM. His outstanding research contributions in the field of Non-Linear Differential Equations have attracted this fellowship.

Professor Upadhyay, who has over 24 years’ experience of teaching, started his career in the teaching profession way back in 1997 as a lecturer in SBS College of Eng and Technology, Ferozpur, Punjab and worked there till 2000. He joined IIT (ISM) as senior lecturer in May 2000 and got elevated as Assistant Professor in March 2003 and again promoted as Associate Professor in May 2009 and became Professor in 2010. He is serving as HOD, Mathematics & Computing, IIT (ISM) since October 2021 till date.

Professor Upadhyay’s present research interest lies in Differential Equations, Ecological and Environmental Modelling, Chaos Modeling, Mathematical Ecology, Nonlinear dynamics, Dynamical system Theory, Disease dynamics, Population dynamics, Reaction-Diffusion Modeling, Spatio temporal pattern formations in Ecology, E-epidemic modeling and Virus dynamics, Neural modelling.

A Ph D degree holder of IIT Delhi, Professor Upadhyay is also life member of various professional bodies, including, Association Computability in Europe; Indian Mathematical Society; International Academy of Physical Sciences; Bio Mathematical Society of India; International Society of Computational Ecology, Hongkong and annual members of American Mathematical Society.
