Khamenei Reportedly Hiding Underground as Conflict Escalates

Tehran: As tensions between Iran and Israel intensify, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly taken refuge in an underground bunker in northeastern Tehran, along with close family members, according to Iran International. The relocation reportedly occurred just hours before Israel launched a series of targeted airstrikes on the Iranian capital on Friday.

Sources cited by the outlet claim that Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, and other family members are also sheltering in the high-security facility, amid fears of direct threats to the supreme leader’s life.

Trump Allegedly Blocks Israeli Plot to Assassinate Khamenei

In a separate development, former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly vetoed an Israeli proposal to assassinate Khamenei, according to a Fox News report quoting an unnamed U.S. official. The alleged plot remains unconfirmed by official sources, but comes amid speculation of covert coordination between Israel and its international allies during the ongoing conflict.

While addressing the media, Trump hinted at his potential role in future peace talks between the two adversaries, comparing the situation to his claimed mediation during the India-Pakistan standoff in May.

“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal—just like I got India and Pakistan to make,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

However, Indian media reports have countered Trump’s claim, asserting that the May 10 ceasefire between India and Pakistan came about without third-party involvement and was the result of direct diplomatic engagement.

Conflict Rages On: Civilian Casualties Rise in Israel

The Iran-Israel confrontation entered its fourth consecutive day on Sunday, marked by heavy missile and rocket exchanges.

According to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service:

  • 67 people were injured in missile attacks targeting central Israel.

  • A woman in her 30s remains in serious condition.

  • Three civilians—two women and a man in his 70s—were killed in the rocket strikes across four different locations.

MDA also reported that many of the wounded were suffering from acute anxiety, highlighting the psychological toll of the sustained bombardment.

“Three killed (2 women, 1 man ~70) in rocket strikes across 4 sites in central Israel,” MDA confirmed on X.

International Concerns Mount

As both nations continue their military offensives, global leaders and institutions have urged restraint. The situation remains volatile, with observers warning of a broader regional fallout unless diplomatic channels are urgently activated.
