JNS: The Election Commission of India has announced that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases across the country. The election dates were revealed on Saturday in a press conference held in New Delhi by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu.

According to the announcement, the first phase of polling will take place on April 19, followed by the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh and final phase on June 1.

The results of the elections will be declared on June 4.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated that the term of the current Lok Sabha will conclude on June 16. He emphasized that the elections are a significant challenge and test, with an estimated 50 crore male and over 47 crore female voters expected to participate. Additionally, there are 1.8 crore first-time voters, 88.40 lakh disabled individuals, 19.01 lakh military security personnel, and 48,000 third-gender voters.

CEC Rajiv Kumar highlighted the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent elections, stating that every election is a sacred responsibility assigned by the Constitution. He expressed the Election Commission’s determination to conduct the national elections in a manner that reflects positively on India’s global image.

Regarding the Lok Sabha elections 2024, CEC Rajiv Kumar remarked that the electoral process is a source of pride for the country and emphasized that elections in India are a celebration of democracy. He described India’s elections as the largest democratic exercise in the world, with the entire world watching closely. He reiterated the Election Commission’s promise to conduct the national elections in a manner that showcases India’s democratic values and principles on the global stage.
